different sites across London for John Lewis Partnership. As part of a five year roll out programme to replace existing R22 chillers and following the success of previous projects completed at other stores, Weatherite Building Services were again appointed by John Lewis Partnership as the principle contractor for the extensive refurbishment work.
At all of the sites, the work called for the design, supply and installation of new air conditioning units to replace the previous units that used the R22 refrigerant, making them environmentally unsound plus associated replacement chillers.
At the Oxford Street store, WBS installed DX split air conditioning units and at the Kingston store installed three large chillers.
Park Royal, John Lewis’ distribution centre, was a first distribution centre focussing on the partnership between WBS and John Lewis and saw the installation of two small Hitachi chillers along with DX split air conditioning units.
In their role as Principal Contractor, Weatherite Building Services not only undertook the replacement process but had the sole responsibility for the recovery and decommissioning of the redundant plant which used R22 refrigerant.
“It comes as no surprise for me to say that we are delighted with the work that Weatherite has completed for us,” comments Graham Mappledoram, Central Specialist (HVAC) at John Lewis, “Even when faced with our distribution centre, a first for our working partnership, WBS were not phased and still sourced the best possible solution for our needs.”
