Environmental Pioneer - Air Conditioning
At a highly charged Cooling Industry Awards at London’s prestigious Royal Lancaster Hotel on 1st October 08, team M & S/Weatherite/Star Refrigeration won the coveted ‘Environmental Pioneer-Air Conditioning’ Award against some very stiff competition.
The judges commented that the project
“Demonstrates a willingness of the industry to collectively seek innovation where it is needed”.
The group was also highly commended for the ‘Green End-User of the Year - Small Projects’ category which it narrowly missed out on.
Weatherite, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of air conditioning equipment, in conjunction with Marks & Spencer, their consultancy team and Star Refrigeration, has developed a new and innovative solution for Marks & Spencer to support its ambitious‘Plan A’ initiative (aimed at ensuring they become one of the country's greenest retailers).
The fully packaged rooftop heating and cooling system has been designed and manufactured using a natural refrigerant, thereby removing all HFC refrigerants from the cooling system and Weatherite worked closely with Star Refrigeration to specifically develop and deliver this trans-critical CO2 solution.
